New BARRICADE™ Rust Preventive From Birchwood Casey Provides
More Than Double The Corrosion Protection

Minneapolis, Minnesota: New BARRICADE™ from BIRCHWOOD CASEY is a long term rust preventive with a salt spray resistance of 200-300 hours (ASTM B-117).

This extremely effective corrosion inhibitor provides two to three times the protection compared to the average rust preventive, according to Birchwood Casey officials. Barricade is excellent as a sealant over black conversion coatings and phosphates because it seals out corrosion and enhances the color of the finish. It can also be used on bare metal surfaces for long term storage or overseas shipment.

Barium free, Barricade rust preventive can be applied to wet or dry parts by dipping, brushing or low-pressure spraying. The thin-bodied liquid rapidly penetrates recessed areas and displaces moisture from metal surfaces. Supplied as a pale, amber liquid, it dries in 10-30 minutes leaving a dry-to-the-touch, semi-solid film of 0.1 mil thickness which actually improves the finish color. Once applied, it will not drain off parts or wick off into packaging materials.

Barricade is the ideal protection for all bare metal or finished metal parts, including tooling, fixturing, dies, toolholders, milling cutters, sprockets -- virtually any metal part subject to corrosion, according to Mark Ruhland, vice president of Birchwood Casey. It meets Mil-C-16173D, Grade 3 water displacement test and Mil-C-22235A stain test for non-ferrous metals. It also provides up to 1000 hours humidity protection (ASTM D1748).

Barricade is compatible with all lubricants, hydraulic oils, and cutting oils. It contains no barium or silicone. With only a mild, solvent odor, the product is harmless to plastics, paints and synthetic rubbers and easy for operators to use.

Costing just pennies per part to apply, Barricade provides part coverage of 2000 square feet per gallon. It is available in 5 Gallon s and 55 gallon drums.
