Press Releases New ClearLok Polymer Sealant from Birchwood Casey Seals
Minneapolis, Minnesota: CLEARLOK polymer sealant from BIRCHWOOD CASEY is a new dual function coating that protects metal surfaces from corrosion and dries to a clear, hard film with excellent gloss and scratch resistance. Supplied as a liquid concentrate, the ClearLok solution is diluted with water and applied by immersion techniques, then allowed to dry. Heating the solution results in faster drying. The ClearLok coating can be applied as a topcoat over black finishes or used as a clear, glossy sealant on clean, bare metal surfaces. During drying, the polymer cross-links to form a durable, slick finish that resists scuffing and corrosion. ClearLok works well on iron and steel as well as brass, zinc die castings, pewter and aluminum. The coating is rated for over 200 hours humidity exposure. "ClearLok is a non-hazardous, water-based product," reports Mark Ruhland of Birchwood Casey. "It has no odor and is easy to use. Also the finish is much harder than other water-based coatings, with a nominal 0.1 mil thickness that is acceptable for all semi-precision parts. We recommend it for parts such as sprockets, milling cutters, tool holders, stampings, rebuilt automotive components - virtually any metal that requires a slick, hard finish." Costing just pennies per part to use, ClearLok can be applied in batches or large quantities quickly and with minimal labor utilization. It is available in 5 gallon and 55 gallon containers direct from Birchwood Casey. |
